Shire Brook Valley Heritage Group

The group researches and promotes the local history, industrial archaeology and heritage of the valley. We hold open afternoons at the Shire Brook Valley Visitor Centre on Stone Lane at Woodhouse, once a month (February to November) on Sundays and all are welcome to drop in for a chat and look round. The visitor centre is in what was the manager’s office of the local sewage works. When the sewage works closed it was eventually turned into the focal point of a local nature reserve in the central part of the Shire Brook Valley. The group organises guided walks around the valley and gives talks on aspects of the history to other groups. For more information, email christinehandley@aol.com
