Crafting the Past Online Workshop

Sheffield Crafting the Past Workshopsis part of a collaborative project between Joined Up Heritage Sheffield and the University of Sheffield (Crafting the Past: Empowering Communities through Creative Writing, Visual Narratives, Memory, and Place-Making).

It will offer an online workshop on creative writing and visual storytellingto address challenges faced by post-industrial communities in preserving heritage and memories.

The workshop aims to empower participants to share their stories and memories about the city’s rich industrial past and heritage through creative writing (e.g., poetry, storytelling) and visual storytelling workshops (such as sketches and gesture drawings, line art, stippling, scumbling).

Outcomes of the project will include a book with participants art work to contribute to good practices of heritage making in Sheffield, bridging citizens, policymakers, and academia. This creative and collaborative approach will ensure a more inclusive understanding of Sheffield’s industrial legacy and its impact on the city’s communities.
