Dig Where You Stand (DWYS) uncovers untold stories of people of colour held in the city’s archives. Writer and educator Désirée Reynolds launched the project during her time as Sheffield City Archives’ Writer in Residence in 2021. Now, with Sheffield City Archives, The Centre for Equity & Inclusion and Peter & Paul, in summer 2024 Désirée is presenting the first Dig Where You Stand Biennial, running from 20th July to 18th August 2024.

Just as histories are written across a city, this multi venue exhibition will display artworks across a range of highly visible public spaces. Make your way around Sheffield city centre and be moved by a stirring mixture of painting, poetry, puppetry, soundscapes, film, textiles and live performances.

Find out more about the exhibition and updates on supporting events on the Dig Where You Stand Biennial website.
