Paul Hobson is a professional wildlife photographer living in Sheffield, having previously been a teacher and lecturer. Paul has spent the last 45 years researching the life of Henry Seebohm and he recently published Henry’s definitive biography
Henry Seebohm was arguably one of the most important personalities in the life of Victorian Sheffield. A keen ornithologist and steelmaker, he was instrumental in the setting up of many of the Sheffield naturalists groups. By the end of his life, his successful steel company had grown to become one of the larger works in the town and he was certainly the most famous British Ornithologist. Since his death in 1895, he sank into relative obscurity.
This is a must for anyone interested in ornithology and/or our industrial heritage.
