JUHS bi-monthly meeting

Tuesday, 28th May 2024

4:00 pm to 6:00 pm

Power Lab, Kelham Island Industrial Museum

JUHS bi-monthly meetings are open to all, whatever their interest in heritage. They are an opportunity to hear from local heritage groups about their work and a great chance to make connections and to discuss problems and opportunities for Sheffield’s heritage. The agenda also includes a guest speaker and an update on what JUHS has been doing to promote a better-resourced and better-connected presentation of heritage. Most meetings are “hybrid”, so you can either attend in person or online via Zoom.

The next JUHS bi-monthly meeting is on Tuesday 28th May 2024 at 4pm and is a “hybrid” meeting, so you can either attend in person at the Power Lab, Kelham Island Industrial Museum or online via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87394777846?pwd=WklRNXBnQ0NqQ203bnM4eVcrZW04UT09.

Our guest speaker will be Becca Mytton of Sheffield Museums who will tell us about the Stephenson Blake collection and the prospect of it returning to Sheffield. Stephenson Blake were a major Sheffield printing firm, and typefaces that they designed are still widely used today – another example of one of the city’s influential but under-appreciated industries. The collection includes 2.5 million artefacts from the sixteenth century to the twentieth – could it be coming home?
