JUHS bi-monthly meeting – May 2025

For our JUHS bi-monthly in May we are very happy to be meeting at Abbeyfield House as the guests of the Friends of Abbeyfield Park. The Friends of Abbeyfield Park will give us a tour of the house as well as a talk about the house and the work of the Friends. This meeting will be in person only – there will be no option to attend online. We very much hope that everyone who is able will take the opportunity to see inside this little-known but lovely historic building. We also love to meet people who are interested in our work and that of Sheffield’s heritage groups, so please do come along if you can.

Getting there and access: Abbeyfield House is well served by public transport. Bus services 1, 2, 21, 20, 29, 32, 47, 48, 75, 75a, 76, 76a, 76e, 83 and 88 all run close by on Barnsley Road. Car parking is available at no charge on surrounding residential streets (there is no car park within the site). The house is not wheelchair-accessible. There are just a few shallow steps at the entrance and our meeting and part of the tour will be on the ground floor. The tour will also visit the first floor, accessed via a fairly long and narrow staircase (there is no lift).

JUHS bi-monthly meetings are open to all, whatever their interest in heritage. They are an opportunity to hear from local heritage groups about their work and a great chance to make connections and to discuss problems and opportunities for Sheffield’s heritage.
