Lunchtime Talk: Yorkshire – There and Back

Tuesday, 15th November 2022

1:00 pm to 1:45 pm

Weston Park Museum

From trains and chocolate to Scarborough Fair and the partygoers of Leeds, award-winning author Andrew Martin affectionately explores one of the most influential counties in England, drawing on his life-long memories, honest opinions, and diverse knowledge.

In this lunchtime talk, Andrew will read from and discuss his latest book Yorkshire: There and Back a memoir, guide, and all-round appreciation of ‘God’s own county’. Andrew will pay particular attention to Sheffield, which he finds enigmatic and slightly aloof from Yorkshire (but in a good way).

Andrew Martin is a journalist and prolific author of fiction and non-fiction books. The latest title in his award-winning Jim Stringer series of railway novels is Powder Smoke, and his latest stand-alone novel is The Winker.
