Neepsend not Kelham – talk by artist Paul Allender

Paul Allender grew up in Neepsend in the 1950’s and 60’s. The theme of the show is his experience of childhood in Neepsend, a smoky place where all of the external walls were blackened by pollution from the steelworks.

The area has now been transformed into the fashionable go-to location for eating, drinking and music that we all know.

This huge change in S3 provides the backdrop to the exhibition. It reflects upon the culture Paul experienced growing up, and the transformations in society in the following decades.

Paul will talk about his artistic journey, starting with his childhood in Neepsend.

The exhibition opens 8th June and runs until the 24th June.
