Public Talk: Crafting the Past – the participants’ stories revealed

In the latest phase of Crafting the Past we heard stories from people who feel a connection with Sheffield’s heritage. In this session we’ll report on what they told us and hear from some of the participants.

“Crafting the Past: Empowering Communities through Creative Writing, Visual Narratives, Memory, and Place-Making” is a new collaborative project between Joined Up Heritage Sheffield and the University of Sheffield. Led by Dr Gui Pozzer (Department of Archaeology) and funded by the University, the project aims to empower Sheffield’s communities to share their stories and memories about the city’s rich industrial past and heritage.

Through creative writing and visual storytelling workshops (such as sketch and gesture drawings, line art, stippling, scumbling), the project will bridge residents, policymakers, and academia. This creative and collaborative approach will ensure a more inclusive understanding of Sheffield’s industrial legacy and its impact on the city’s communities.
