Introducing the new 2022 Lecture Series for Portland Works starting next month with this one to be delivered by former BBC Radio Presenter and accomplished artist Gerry Kersey who will be presenting 16 new artworks which portray scenes from his own and his father’s time at Hadfield’s Steelworks in Sheffield which once employed 15,000 people on the site now occupied by Meadowhall Shopping Centre.

Gerry’s father worked there for 39 years and Gerry himself also worked there for four years. He will talk about the new paintings and what they represent from his own unique perspective.

Did you know that Gerry was once part of a comedy trio with Kenny Everett and Germaine Greer?

Tickets are just £5.00 and places are limited so please book early and the lecture will take place in the fabulous ‘Makerspace’ at the historic Portland Works where the first ever Stainless steel knives were made in the world following its discovery by local lad Harry Brearley.

The Lecture ‘Recollections of Hadfields’ by Gerry Kersey is on Wednesday 18th May 7.00pm-9.00pm at Portland Works on Randall Street. Tickets are £5.00 and must be booked via Eventbrite.
