Recording Trees & Tree Stories in Graves Park

Join us on Saturday 4th November (10.30am-12.30pm) to record Graves Park’s Tree Stories.

Trees have stories, and sometimes these stories are etched into their bark. Messages, names, and illustrations in the form of love hearts are often visible on the trunks and branches of trees, particularly beech trees.

These etchings or arborglyphs may only represent the actions of a few moments, but they are a lasting record on the life of a tree. The recording of arborglyphs can provide useful and sometimes unique information about the past and the people who engaged with them.
