For our next monthly lecture at Portland Works, we are delighted to welcome renowned historian David Templeman, author of Mary, Queen of Scots – The captive Queen in England 1568-87. David is an Elizabethan historian, speaker, and Chair of the Friends of Sheffield Manor Lodge.

During the Industrial Revolution, Sheffield was pre-eminent in steel and heavy engineering – but what about our more distant history in Tudor and Stuart times? David’s talk will look at how the ordinary men and women lived worked and played in the small market town of Sheffield in that era. He will also address how the town developed its cutlery industry and point to the surviving buildings from that period.

Our Makerspace venue has a capacity of 60 and we anticipate that David’s talk will be very popular. Book your tickets now!

The venue is up a staircase so access for people with mobility issues may be a problem.
