Sheffield Town Hall – Behind the Scenes

A chance to go behind the scenes in this Grade I listed building, with its fine Victorian chambers, architecture, and rich heritage.

Sheffield’s Victorian town hall is one of just five Grade I listed buildings in Sheffield. This guided tour will take you behind the scenes to see the wonderful stonework, striking Italian marble, elegant mosaic floors and incredible ornate plaster ceilings of the city’s premier civic building.

The tour will be led by Cllr Janet Ridler, Sheffield City Council’s Heritage Champion, who will tell you about some of the famous people who have visited Sheffield Town Hall, such as Queen Victoria and Winston Churchill. You’ll see rare artefacts and collections, visit the impressive civic rooms, and discover the stories of the Lord Mayors who had a great influence on Sheffield’s development.
