Find out about one of the sharpest but least well known of Sheffield’s Cutlery companies, W. S Butcher Ltd. Hear the story behind the firm that built the Butcher Works on Eyre Lane in this free talk from Nick Duggan at Kelham Island Museum.
The company made a much wider range of products than many other Sheffield firms specialising in edge tools, files, razors besides pocket cutlery, scissors and Bowie Knives. The legacy of the Butcher company lives on in the restored Butcher Works 72 Arundel Street, now the home of Freeman College.
Free, donations welcome.
This talk comes from The Ken Hawley Collection Trust.
