Walkley Historians History is Here Talk

For the final History is Here talk of our Spring season, two members of Walkley Historians will be sharing surprising stories from their own research. Peter Bull has started to look into the history of the area that is now the Ponderosa public park (‘From Port Mahon to the Ponderosa’), and Philip Adam has uncovered some fascinating stories about his own family history.  Two of his ancestors were leading members of the Sheffield Chartist movement, imprisoned with Samuel Holberry in 1840 for what the court described as “a seditious conspiracy.” (‘Rattling Bones and Righteous Rebels’).  More talks in the autumn.
