Handsworth Museum and Historical Society

The Handsworth Museum and Dovecote is housed upstairs in the adjoining eighteenth century Grade II listed stable range of St Mary’s Parish Centre.

Our museum boasts a diverse collection of local history and memorabilia, including a 1613 copy of the King James Bible, tithe maps, local records, intriguing displays, and historical games available for interaction. It also features an exquisite eighteenth-century dovecote room, exemplifying architectural heritage accessible right in our community.

• Our museum is Open every Monday (except Bank Holidays) from 2pm to 4pm
• During the summer months we also open one Saturday per month from 11am to 2pm
• Special openings for groups can be arranged subject to availability, please contact us via the details provided.

We also run the Handsworth Historical Society; we meet on first Monday of each month at 7pm, providing a programme of historical talks. We meet either in St Mary’s church or in the Parish Centre. Details of our current programme and room venue can be found on our Facebook page.
