Heeley City Farm: Community Heritage

Heeley City Farm is a friendly farm and environmental visitor centre in the heart of Sheffield, Heeley, South Yorkshire.

Background

Community heritage work based at the farm and in local communities, working with volunteers and community groups of all ages. Projects include: roundhouse building, excavation of the farm site, storytelling, heritage walks and crafts.

Activities

We love seeing people progress by helping them to have hands on opportunities to experience local heritage – and we’ve been working with the local community to do this since 2008. We’ve completed some fantastic projects, such as Digging our Roots, building Iron Age Roundhouses, workshops and family open days. These projects take place at Heeley City Farm, but we also work across the city at a number of locations and with lots of different partners.

Heeley Heritage Volunteers work on our projects, and there are plenty of opportunities for everyone to get involved. Open days and many events are free of charge, and open to everyone who wants to be involved.
