Heritage Highways

Our origins are from the Heritage Highways Project within the National Lottery funded Sheffield Lakelands and Landscapes Partnership. As part of that project we created a number of walks, horse and cycle rides that showcased the heritage within the Lakelands area of Sheffield. Since the project formally ended we have constituted ourselves as a group to continue this work to encourage access and inform people of the rich heritage of the countryside in the lakeland area. We are also be looking to identify and list some of the heritage, particularly around the old Packhorse routes including bridges, way marker, troughs, ’causey’ ways (old stone set paths for packhorses).
