The Victorian Society, South Yorkshire Group
We are the regional group of the Victorian Society, a national charity which campaigns for Victorian and Edwardian architecture. The Society, as one of the national amenity societies, has a role in the planning system, commenting on planning applications proposing the demolition or significant alteration of listed buildings, or buildings in conservation areas, dating from between 1837 and 1914 .
The S Yorks Group runs a programme of evening talks from October to April, looking at aspects of Victorian and Edwardian architecture, arts and crafts, architects and artists, and social history. From May to September we offer visits and guided walks around similar themes.
