JUHS Bi-monthly meeting Tuesday 29 November 2022, 4-6pm
Bi-monthly meeting Tuesday 29 November 2022, 4-6pm
In person at Portland Works Maker Space and online
We are happy to announce that our bi-monthly meeting will be another “hybrid” meeting, improving on what we learnt from the last meeting. You can either meet face to face in the Maker Space, kindly made available by Portland Works, or alternatively join via Zoom if you prefer.
Special presentation:
Anna de Lange, the Portland Works historian, will be joining us again. Anna is best known for her deep knowledge of the origins of the works and the stainless steel for which it is famous, but for us she has prepared an entirely new talk focusing on the wide variety of tenants, both past and present.
We are also delighted to be joined by some of today’s tenants to tell us about life in the works!
Please join us for this great opportunity to discover more about how a historic building once doomed to become apartments is today a hive of skills and enterprise, showing how relevant heritage is today and how it fosters the independent businesses on which our future rests.
We welcome news, updates, questions and ideas from anyone at the meeting, and time is set aside in the agenda for this – please feel free to contribute.
In person: Portland Works is on Randall Street, Sheffield S2 4SJ, on the corner with Hill Street. There is chargeable on-street parking nearby. Buses run via London Road or Bramall Lane.
The Maker Space is situated on the first floor with access via a wide but curved staircase. Unfortunately there is no access by lift at this time.
Please do not attend in person if you are feeling unwell or exhibiting Covid symptoms.
Via Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/4519874250?pwd=aXNhemprMUM2RkVuckJwMm1YMGp5dz09
A recording of the meeting will be available for a short time afterwards for the benefit of anyone unable to attend. Please email info@joinedupheritagesheffield.org.uk with any questions.
