Share your stories of Sheffield work and community on camera in a new research project

Dr. Lizzy Craig-Atkins  would like to connect with South Yorkshire residents who are interested in sharing stories about their experiences of work and community in and around Sheffield in an on-camera interview. This is part of a research project she is co-running at the University of Sheffield which will lead to a publication and an art exhibition at Wentworth Woodhouse next year where the interviews will be presented alongside new artwork by her collaborator Jennifer Vanderpool.

The research project

‘Untold Stories: Sheffield’ is a collaborative archival and social action research project investigating how late twentieth-century deindustrialization impacted the city of Sheffield. It is a collaboration between Prof Lizzy Craig-Atkins (Roots and Futures project) and Dr Jennifer Vanderpool (academic and artist). It will examine the human impact of socio-cultural and political changes which accompanied industrial decline.

Our collaboration will use a method developed by Dr Jennifer Vanderpool during past iterations of the ‘Untold Stories’ project, and be delivered through a set of objectives that combine archival and social action research.

Interested?

If you are interested in knowing more and potentially participating, we will share detailed information about the project and what we are looking for in participants to help you decide whether or not you want to take part. The project has ethics approval from the University of Sheffield, project reference 065680. We expect filming to take place in March 2025.
