Sheffield Plan Consultation
Sheffield City Council are consulting on the new Local Plan. This is the plan that will guide what can be built where in the city, and will have a large and long-lasting impact on heritage and the environment. There will be very great pressure to build large numbers of new homes. We need to make sure that this is not done at the expense of built, green or community heritage – in fact, we need the plan to give an outstanding role for heritage of all kinds. Only that way can the city make itself distinctive and hold on to all those things that give Sheffield its identity.
The “Issues and Options 2020” consultation document is available now and can be found here on the Sheffield City Council website. The formal consultation will run from 1st September to 13th October 2020.
A formal response will be sent by JUHS, but the more individuals and organisations who respond directly to the Council, the more clearly we can make the case for heritage
