Sheffield is a civilised city and this virtual walk by Duncan Froggatt, Institute of Civil Engineers, shows something of how this has been achieved. You will learn of buildings and structures, various forms of transport (road, rail, tram and water) and the bridges they need together with hidden essentials like water supply and drainage.
You will learn something about where they are and the stories behind these. You will see different materials being used in different forms – all designed and constructed by engineers applying science and using engineering principles.
This is an audio recording of a walk with commentary led by Duncan and accompanied by pictures of locations visited.
Leaflets giving the basic details of this walking trail are available to download.
