Many green spaces and heritage sites in Sheffield are looked after by community or “Friends of” groups. Sheffield City Council Parks, Sport and Recreation aims to work in partnership with friends’ groups to care for green spaces, many of which are valued for their heritage.

If you’re thinking of setting up a new groups, whether your interest is a green space, a heritage asset, or a the history of a particular area or subject, you can find useful advice about setting up, operating and publicising a community group on the Council’s website. The advice covers:
